Black Oystercatcher

Black Oystercatcher is a family-run wine farm at the cool southernmost tip of Africa. Here the boutique Black Oystercatcher Wines are made from the intensely fruity grapes, formed in Cape Agulhas’ extreme growing conditions.

Our farm, nestled in the rural landscape at Cape Agulhas, is also home to the Black Oystercatcher Restaurant, Venue and Cottages. We love the land and the natural environment. And so, at the Black Oystercatcher Restaurant, we live by the season, offering a fresh, intimate food experience. We serve fresh produce that grows in our own garden as the seasons dictate. So you are able to enjoy an organic dining experience, set in the ultimate country atmosphere.

The four self-catering Cottages now allow us to share our joy of living in the country. The cottages overlook the Nuwejaars River and biodiversity-rich Agulhas Plain. Each cottage is fully equipped with everything you’ll need for the perfect country getaway. Enjoy activities like birding, canoeing or cycling; or simply settle down to revel in the fresh air and country lifestyle found on a working farm.

Black Oystercatcher’s philosophy is to work the land with the least possible interference, in the most natural way.  The land has been dedicated to conservation, and forms part of the Nuwejaars Wetland Special Management Area – the first conservation venture of its kind in South Africa.
